Can I Borrow Against My Structured Settlement?

Some options for accessing cash with structured settlements.

Unlike certain pensions and 401K plans, with which you can take loans against the balances, you can not borrow against a structured settlement. For a number of reasons, financial institutions do not recognize structured settlements as collateral when issuing a loan.

You may inquire if they will consider future payments from a structured settlement as income; some may and some may not. Using your settlement in this manner is completely at the lending institution's discretion. Instead, you may want to consider selling your settlement if you are in need of a large chunk of change. A reputable, experienced company can help you make arrangements to do this.
