I know that it may be too early to think about this, but I think now is the best time to start considering who you will be taking out of Valentines Day. If you dont have a special someone, or simply dont care for the one that you are currently with, then now is an opportune time to start discreetly searching for your Valentines dates.

The holidays are filled with obligations to visit family and friends in a social setting. It is a copious lottery of potential dates.  There is a good chance that you know someone, or someone may know someone, or know someone who may know someone who has an ideal friend for you. So now is the time to strike. There are many opportunities to make new friends as long as you put yourself out there.

The timeline is perfect, its a great time to get to know someone, take them out on a few dates between now and the end of January by which time you will almost be guaranteed a date for the big day (you still have to ask).

Just remember, common courtesy dictates that you do not string someone along and then dump him or her without allowing the proper amount of time before they can find a replacement for you on Valentines Day. I think two weeks is a fair minimum.
