Saving Money in Difficult Times

It is up to us whether or not history repeats itself

I was listening to NPR this afternoon was one of the topics of discussion was Oliver Twist. I dont know the story per se, but images of suffering, poverty, raggedy clothes, and economic strife were formed in my mind.

When things get tough in the economy everybody wants to hold on to their money tightly, especially when you dont know what the next year will look like. Many are still whispering the "r-word", but in fact we are not in a recession, nor are we in an almost-recession, we are in fact in a contraction and there is still a possibility that we will not see the recession that we are fearing. The important thing is to not act out of fear. Fear has bided well for few, and has exacerbated situations for most.

It is important for money to remain in circulation, once money is circulating then our economy can function by businesses remaining open, people staying in their jobs, and our economy moving along and remaining competitive in the international market. When we do well, then others are able to do well and we can avoid the peasant look of ragged clothes and limited food sources.

So, if you have been holding on to your settlements or your winnings and are not sure how to act, you should seriously consider selling it, this way your payments that you accept will gradually be an investment in the economy. Just be sure as always to be smart, and do your research.
